Owner who fell on hard times abandons their dog and leaves a note behind

This abandoned pooch was found with a letter with him. It reads a very heartbreaking message that might bawl your eyes out.

We often feel enraged hearing about dogs being abandoned by their owners. However, we shouldn’t be quick to judge as there are some stories behind them that we should know first. For instance, there’s this unfortunate Pit bull’s story and the owner’s reason for leaving him behind.

What would you do if you yourself are caught in quite a dilemma?

A woman in Harwinton, Connecticut was left with no choice but to abandon her only canine companion, Fatty McFat. This dog was incredibly well taken care of and was even treated like family.

However, the time came when the owner fell into a deep pitfall in life that unfortunately turned them homeless. The two were living in their car for months, and it got harder and harder for Fatty’s owner to provide for him.

Living such a hard life, the woman knew that it’s so much better for Fatty to live at a home where he could be happy, and sadly, despite the years they have been together, she knows that it’s selfish if she decided to keep her instead. Given very limited choices, the woman decided to abandon poor Fatty under the shade of the tree just outside Litchfield Hills Veterinary Animal Hospital.

Someone found Fatty, and with him, they also found a letter from the owner.

he letter started with the owner expressing her love for Fatty as well as the reason for abandoning him. It read:

“My name is Fatty McFat. I am aggressive only because I’m scared. My owner loves me very much, I am their life! My human went homeless & found out they have a disease & cannot care for me. Please don’t judge them.”

If you’re thinking, “She could have surrendered him properly,” turns out she already tried.

The letter continued by saying:

“They tried to rehome me on many documented attempts, no one cared! Attempted the vet, they did not care! Call police & dog warden did not care! I know my human loves because they were & are the only ones who gave every attempt to save me, love me, and pamper me.”

“It is not fair for me to live in a car for 2 months & my human cries every day that they are sorry & loves me. I am very, very overly protective of my human & will bite anyone who comes near them or I feel is a threat.”

“My human went homeless due to my biting.”

“All my human wants is for me to have a chance, be treated w/ care, dignity & love no matter the outcome. My human is heartbroken & very sad it has come to this. No one would help. –Fat McFat,” the rest of the letter read.

Some kind people gave this pooch the help he needed.

A vet took him in and gave him proper examination and treatment. Afterward, he was transferred to a local no-kill shelter called The Simon Foundation.

They were able to identify the owner and offered to rehome her for free until the time when she’s ready to take care of him. To think that the woman’s decision to this dilemma yielded this very positive outcome, you might also cry from happiness.

The Simon Foundation was dedicated to giving their time and effort to provide for Fatty, as well as work on his aggression issues. Later that year, they found out that his owner had gotten a job, and they’re only waiting for the time for her to pick him up, and hopefully they did in the end.
